Riverside's Got Talent adds 13 and under division for children

     Many contestants have signed up for the Riverside's Got Talent event during Party in the Park.       But, says organizer Lu Karr, there is room for more participants in the schedule. A category for performers age 13 and under has been added to the line-up.       The event will include up to 18 acts, aged 13 and under, and up to 18 acts aged 14 and over.

BSWCDC to meet June 15th

  The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, 2011.  The Commissioners will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the District office in Vinton and will depart on their Annual Conservation Tour.  They will return to the office for their regular business meeting about 2:30 p.

Red Cross Community Blood Drive June 28th

  The Red Cross Community Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, June 28, from 1:30-6:00 at the Vinton Skate and Activity Center, 1703 C Avenue. To schedule an appointment contact Kristie at 472-4292 or davcdavis@q.com. Walk-ins are always welcome.

PEO Chapters HG and MZ to meet

  PEO Chapters HG and MZ will meet Monday June 13th at 6:30         p.m. at the Vinton Country Club.  The program for the evening will be         the report of the 2011 Convention.

June Field Day to Highlight Elwynn Taylor and Crop Development

  ISU Extension specialists will highlight in-season crop development and pest problems on Wednesday June 29 at the Annual June Field Day of the Northeast Iowa Ag Experimental Association (NEIAEA).   The afternoon program runs from 1:00 to 4:30 and will feature five speakers.  Ken Pecinovsky, ISU Research Farm Superintendant will review crop progress.

     This year marks 150 years since the beginning of the Civil War in 1861. Iowans stepped up immediately to serve in the Union Army. Workshops Provide Environmental Update for Medium-Sized Feedlots & Dairies

  Iowa State University Extension will offer four workshops in northeastern and eastern Iowa featuring environmental issues for feedlots and dairies that are medium-sized concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs).
